September 1 Music

Theme: The Response of Sacrament

"When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: 'When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, "Give this person your seat." Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, "Friend, move up to a better place." Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.'  Then Jesus said to his host, 'When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.'"  Luke 14:7-14

Lord I Lift Your Name on High

Notes: We are doing this in a Reggae style.  Faith is playing the djembe.  There is a 4 measure intro: "Lord I lift Your name on high; Lord, I love to sing Your praises".  We repeat it twice, there are 4 measures in between repeats.  After the second time, we go back to "You came from heaven to earth to show the way..."  Again, there are four measures in between the repeat and the "tag".  At the end, we repeat "Lord I lift Your name on high" 3 times.

Rise Up and Praise Him

Notes: 8 measure intro- "let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the people of God sing His praise all over the land."  Repeat the entire song 2 times.  The third time, it repeats the chorus: "Rise up and praise Him, He deserves our love..."  At the end, we repeat "Rise up and praise Him!" 3 times.

11AM Anthem

Now in this Banquet

This is the hymn with all 6 verses.  In the anthem- the sopranos and tenors are on the top line, the altos and basses on the bottom line.  In the canon at the end, either the altos or the basses will be holding "Lord" as either the men or the women start the verse.  The verse comes in fairly quickly.

August 25 Music

Theme: The Call of the New Covenant

"The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.' 'Alas, Sovereign Lord,' I said, 'I do not know how to speak; I am too young.' But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.  Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,' declares the Lord.  Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, 'I have put my words in your mouth.  See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.'"  Jeremiah 1:4-10

August 18th Music

Theme: The Call of Perseverance

"And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies...  Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 11:32-34, 12:1-2

August 11th Music

Theme: The Call of Faith

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.  By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."  Hebrews 11:1-3
