November 3 Music

Theme: The Response of the Saints

Looking at his disciples, he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.  Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied.  Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.  Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.  Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.

October 27th Music

Theme: The Response of the Spirit

"To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 'Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: "God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get."

'But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

'I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.'"  Luke 18:9-14

October 6 Music

Theme: The Response of Renewal

"After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile.  She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place.  All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.  The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to her appointed festivals.  All her gateways are desolate, her priests groan, her young women grieve, and she is in bitter anguish.  Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease.  The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins.  Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.  All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion.  Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer."
